#70 Rich Martini: Life Between Lives

Richard Martini, filmmaker and author of FlipSide and other works about between life experiences.

Click HERE to listen.

Fahrusha and Kate Valentine were happy to welcome Rich Martini, who both wrote the book FlipSide and made the film “FlipSide”, which examine the phenomena of life between lives, wherein people visit a spiritual realm between physical lives to evaluate the past life and plan the next life. The person whose work this film and book concentrates on is the late hypnotherapist Dr. Michael Newton, who passed away  in September 2016.

The late Dr. Michael Newton, hypnotherapist and author of a number of books on the “life between lives” phenomena.

In the years since his making the film “FlipSide” Rich Martini has branched out into after-death communication. However for this podcast he demonstrated with Fahrusha how the life between lives process might work. This demonstration was a total departure from our usual programming. Rich is extremely enthusiastic and upbeat. Fahrusha verifies that she had seen what might amount to her “Council” in a stadium-like setting on several deep meditations at the Monroe Institute and elsewhere. We at SRP would like to know what our listeners think about the process that Rich Martini took Fahrusha through. She did exactly what he told her at the beginning and said the first thing that came into her mind. Does this constitute proof? Our jury is out. We would like to know your opinion on this.

Fahrusha found out about Life Between Lives therapy through a client who was quite taken with it. Several years ago she read one of his books and listened to an audio from the Michael Newton Institute and she thought the idea was fascinating but frightening. She didn’t want to die and have to go to school in the afterlife. She didn’t want to come back to play parts on Earth. Having studied the works of Robert Monroe rather thoroughly, she worried that if she might be caught in what Monroe called “the belief system territories”. That references the idea that one goes to the place that one believes in after death.

In addition to FlipSide, Rich Martini’s books include It’s A Wonderful Afterlife Volumes I and II, and Hacking the Afterlife.

We were thrilled that Rich Martini came on our podcast to explain the whole process to us and as Kate Valentine opines “We are all dying to find out.” 😉

FlipSide, the book.

#69 David B. Metcalfe – Folklore of the Strange

David B. Metcalfe, Folklore of the Strange

Listen HERE

Kate Valentine and Fahrusha welcome paranormal researcher, David B. Metcalfe, to”Shattered Reality Podcast”. David is currently working with former guest, Andrew Chesnut, on a follow-up book about Santa Muerte. He is also the editor in chief of Threshold: Journal of Interdisciplinary Consciousness Studies (TJICS), a new, free, online-only, open access journal of the Windbridge Research Center. You may remember the Windbridge researchers, Dr. Julie Beischel and Mark Boccuzzi from past episodes of SRP. David studied Philosophy and Folklore at Elmhurst College in Illinois. His day job is digital communications and he is a two dimensional artist as well.

We spoke about the Santa Muerte (Saint Death) cult emanating from Mexico. The belief spans the Americas today. The tradition is widespread and runs the gamut from blessings to curses, some of which can be very violent. He and Craig Williams are involved in a book project to support Haitian artists in the Voodoo style. Listener Will had questions about the definitions of Satanism and Santa Muerte which David answered. We spoke about how we in the US seldom see dead bodies whereas in other cultures such as those of Latin America and India, it is common to see the bodies of the dead. It may not be healthy for us to almost never see a dead body because it allows Americans to deny the psychological truth of Death.

Other topics covered included UFOs, abductions, To The Stars Academy, the Christian faith healing practice of praying and talking away the fire (burns), Native American Skinwalkers, Pennsylvania Dutch Pow-Wow tradition and other communal practices. In addition, David writes for Medium and runs a website about Santa Muerte with Andrew Chesnut called Skeleton Saint.

An example of David B. Metcalfe’s art.

Note: Dennis Kuchinich is the former Senator whose name we forgot.

#68 Avrel Seale and Sasquatch

Avrel Seale, author of Monster Hike: A 100-Mile Inquiry Into the Sasquatch Mystery

Listen HERE

Avrel Seale is a seasoned writer who lives in Texas and has an abiding interest in Sasquatch (also known as Bigfoot). A father of three Boy Scouts, he is an avid and observant hiker. He believes he has found substantive evidence of the creature in Sam Houston National Forest an hour north of Houston. For his fiftieth birthday he decided to hike the full length of the Lone Star Trail by himself in search of the elusive hominid. His book Monster Hike: A 100-Mile Inquiry Into the Sasquatch Mystery (Anomalist Books) chronicles this adventure. In addition to Bigfoot he has written about the history of the area and the other natural features and creatures that abound there. If you are planning on looking for Sasquatch or Yeti, I recommend that you read this book before setting out. It is also of great interest to hikers or would-be tenderfoots like me. His eclectic blog, “The Trailhead”, is at avrelseale.wordpress.com.

Stephanie Quick graced our “Listener’s Corner” with some paranormal experiences of her own. She has had an interest in the weird and paranormal since she was a little girl, and (in her own words) “common sense has yet to prevail”. Stephanie reveals her Near Death Experience and a missing time episode in Northern California.

Our Listener’s Corner guest and paranormal experiencer, Stephanie Quick.

We regret that our co-host, Kate Valentine, could not be with us for the entire show due to technical difficulties. We continue to seek a remedy.

#67 Alien Abductee Terry Lovelace

Terry Lovelace

Terry Lovelace, alien abductee and author of Incident at Devil’s Den

Listen HERE

Fahrusha and Kate Valentine were pleased to welcome Terry Lovelace, alien abductee and author of Incident at Devil’s Den to “Shattered Reality Podcast”. Terry’s story is so remarkable that we gave him a whole lot of room to tell his story. We’d like to have him back to answer our questions and any questions our listener’s would like to ask. Regretfully we lost Kate Valentine’s connection about 20 minutes into the show.

Terry Lovelace saw several UFOs as a child and saw grey alien beings in his childhood bedroom. After he joined the Air Force in the ’70s he worked as a medic. He and another medic and a number of other Air Force personnel witnessed an unknown diamond shaped craft hovering over a missile silo one freezing night in Missouri. Two years later he and his medic friend went on a camping trip to Arkansas’s Devil’s Den National Forest. There they witnessed a huge triangular craft hovering over a meadow where they had set up camp. The craft sent down laser like beams of light which appeared to inspect them. They retreated to their tent where they fell unconscious and woke up later to see the craft depart the meadow.

Crying and terrified, they got in their car, leaving behind all their camping gear. They drove back to the Air Force base with great haste, stopping only for beverages to slake their overwhelming thirst. Upon return, they were both hospitalized with skin burns and photophobia, an abnormal intolerance to visual perception of light. They were also separated and forbidden to interact with one another and one another’s families.

Subsequently, Terry was questioned by Air Force OSI officers under the influence of a truth serum-like drug. More recently he discovered a metal object in his knee along with several other objects through a series of x-rays at a veteran’s hospital. The metal object was later removed by the beings that put it there.

Terry Lovelace is a lawyer and former Assistant Attorney General of both Vermont and American Samoa.

#65 Laird Scranton: Ancient Cosmologies

Author Laird Scranton

Click HERE to listen.

Fahrusha was pleased to welcome Laird Scranton to “Shattered Reality Podcast” to discuss an overview of his work in eight books listed below. He is an independent software designer who became interested in Dogon mythology and symbolism in the early 1990s through the works of Jerome Clark and Robert Temple. He has studied ancient myth, language, and cosmology since 1997 and has been a lecturer at Colgate University. He also appears in the late John Anthony West’s Magical Egypt DVD series.

He has written the following books:

The Science of the Dogon: Decoding the African Mystery Tradition;

Sacred Symbols of the Dogon: The Key to Advanced Science in the Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs;

Seeking the Primordial: Exploring Root Concepts of Cosmological Creation;

The Cosmological Origins of Myth and Symbol: From the Dogon and Ancient Egypt to India, Tibet, and China;

Point of Origin: Gobekli Tepe and the Spiritual Matrix for the World’s Cosmologies;

The Velikovsky Heresies: Worlds in Collision and Ancient Catastrophes Revisited;

The Mystery of Skara Brae: Neolithic Scotland and the Origins of Ancient Egypt;

Decoding Maori Cosmology: The Ancient Origins of New Zealand’s Indigenous Culture.

Laird Scranton has been a contributor to several other books.

Cosmology as defined by Miriam Webster dictionary: 1 a: a branch of metaphysics that deals with the nature of the universe, b: a theory or doctrine describing the natural order of the universe. 2: a branch of astronomy that deals with the origin, structure, and space-time relationships of the universe; also : a theory dealing with these.

On this episode we will look at development of our cultural cosmologies from the end of the Ice Age 12000 plus years ago to today, with nearly religious fixation on UFOs by some, and the worldwide cultural mythos of aliens from space via films to an idea of ‘others” as ‘interdimensional ‘ beings. Our guest’s work is rich and complex. He uses the languages and symbols of preliterate cultures and early literate cultures to decode what the ancients thought and finds coherence between cultures geographically dispersed. For instance, the word “etymology” itself has Greek roots: “etymos,” which means, “true sense,” and “logia,” which means, “study of.” Besides helping one to understand the origin of a word, knowing its roots can help one understand other words with similar roots, and can lead the astute to discover amazing mysteries through time.

#64 Anthony Peake Consciousness

Prolific Author Anthony Peake

Anthony Peake, author of Opening the Doors of Perception

Click HERE to listen.

Kate Valentine and Fahrusha were very happy to welcome Anthony Peake, prolific author on the subject of consciousness, who has written nine widely acclaimed books on various aspects of non-physical realities (or are they?), time and consciousness.  We speak with him primarily about his book Opening the Doors of Consciousness, the title of which is based on the Aldous Huxley (1894-1963) book The Doors of Perception the title of which in turn comes from a poem by William Blake (1757-1827). It brings to mind the image of great thinkers through time standing on the shoulders of the one before and building upon knowledge.

If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. ~William Blake

We also touch upon two of his other books Time and the Rose Garden: Encountering the Magical in the life and works of J.B. Priestley and A Life of Philip K Dick: The Man Who Remembered the Future. Both Priestley and Dick explored the subjects of time and consciousness in an unorthodox and thought provoking manner.

We discuss the difficulties of exploring consciousness anomalies using the paradigm of the materialistic scientific method. Does substantial first person experience data equal proof? Are we just meat puppets with accidental biological consciousness or are we part of an infinite consciousness which is eternal? Is reality holographic and are we living in a simulation? Peake explains this through the vocabulary of Gnosticism.

How can we break through the doors of perception? Humans can experience other realities through dreams, schizophrenia, psychotropic drugs and other processes. Are these realities any less real than 4-D? Only in the sense that in 4-D we can have the perception of consensus with other humans. This is called “consensual reality” and on a certain level unprovable due to the fact that individuals see the same event very differently.

I shall close this recap of the podcast with a quote from Aldous Huxley that I find germane to our subject: Maybe this world is another planet’s hell.

#63 Dr. Julie Beischel Medium Research

Dr. Julie Beischel of the Windbridge Research Center in Arizona

Click HERE to listen.

Fahrusha and Kate Valentine were happy to welcome Dr. Julie Beischel to “Shattered Reality Podcast”. She received her doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology with a minor in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Arizona in 2003.  She is the co-founder and Director of Research at the Windbridge Institute for Applied Research in Human Potential and is at the forefront of modern studies into mediumship. Currently, part of the Institute has spun off into the Windbridge Research Center, whose mission is to ease suffering around dying, death, and what comes next, by performing rigorous scientific research and sharing the results and other customized content with practitioners, clinicians, scientists, and the general public.

Survival of consciousness is the key element in understanding mediumship. In this model the brain is seen to be akin to a radio receiver and not the seat of consciousness. The mind or the consciousness is thought to be non-local and exists beyond the death of the body. Mediums are psychics that concentrate on obtaining information about the deceased. American mediums are 90% female. In Dr. Beischel’s research, the mediums that were tested are blinded to any knowledge of the deceased person or the sitter beyond the first name of the deceased. The results of the experiments were all statistically significant in favor of the validity of mediumship. In parapsychology there is a classic debate regarding where the mediumistic information might be coming from. Does it come from so-called “super-psi” (the pool of information available through psychic functioning), or from a deceased person’s after death consciousness? Because I (Fahrusha) do not like binary choices, I also posited that some information might come from non-human disembodied entities, not constricted by space and time.  We discussed the relationship of auto-immune diseases to being a medium or a psychic, versus the relationship of childhood abuse or trauma to disease in general.

Beischel has written several very accessible e-books including From the Mouths of Mediums Vol.1 Experiencing Communication, Meaningful Messages: Making the Most of Your Mediumship Reading, and Among Mediums: A Scientist’s Quest for Answers.

Note: Tom Butler was our guest who spoke about EVP (Electronic Voice Production) in conjunction with messages from the deceased.
