#116 The Zanfretta Case with Rino Di Stefano

On February 6, 2021 Fahrusha interviewed Italian journalist and author Rino Di Stefano about his book, The Zanfretta Case: Chronicle of an Incredible True Story. A 26 year old security guard, Piero Fortunato Zanfretta, who in 1978 was a dependable employee and a married man with two children, had a series of astounding encounters with entities over a period of several years. Our guest, Rino Di Stefano, himself a budding journalist in Genoa at the time, had the courage and intellectual curiosity to take the report seriously and his honest investigation of the Zanfretta case forever changed his world view.

The aspect of the encounters that caused Rino to take the Zanfretta story seriously is the many corroborating reports from other eye witnesses both on the scene and in the surrounding area. Most particularly, one of the officers present in a later Zanfretta abduction was so unnerved that he could never return to work and subsequently took his own life by suicide. After a point Zanfretta himself might be said to have had a break from consensual reality, according to Di Stefano. Alien or entity abduction is not for the faint hearted. It has been known to “fry” brains. It does not necessarily follow that the entities are trying to be harmful. Simply put, the otherness of their consciousness, is beyond human understanding, and what is revealed may cause the experiencer to be unable to process their very different reality.

On Shattered Reality Podcast, we have had other entity experiencers tell their stories. They include: Calvin Parker, Lisette Larkins, and Terry Lovelace. In addition David Booher wrote about Gerry Irwin’s experience and Ron Felber wrote on The Mohave Incident. Piero Zanfretta’s experiences seem most like Calvin Parker‘s and Gerry Irwin’s. There are also aspects of this case that sync with the Travis Walton case. Prior to Zanfretta’s experiences we are told that neither Piero Zanfretta nor Rino Di Stefano were particularly interested in UFOs.

As people who are intrigued with anomalous phenomena it is necessary to carefully examine what is happening to others in cultures around the world. We thank Rino Di Stefano for presenting us with a window into this very strange and compelling account.

On 12/08/2020 Fahrusha welcomed AP Strange to “Shattered Reality Podcast” to speak about the history of broadcast intrusions in the US and the UK during the second half of the Twentieth Century. When these broadcast intrusions are NOT hoaxes they are considered to be a type of EVP (electronic voice phenomena).

On “Shattered Reality Podcast” we have had at least two electronic voice phenomena occur during our shows: Episode # 45 with Tom Butler and Episode #102 UFO Experience as a Parapsychological Event. Because they happened during the recording of the show, should they be considered broadcast intrusions? We make no claims about these two phenomena except to say we at “Shattered Reality Podcast” did nothing to cause them.

AP Strange is the pseudonym of a Worcester, Massachusetts part time researcher into flying saucers, the paranormal and Discordian philosophy.  He is an ambassador for the Liminal Earth project, covering weird stories from his home state and also works with the Magonia Research Group.

We discussed the Max Headroom and Captain Midnight US intrusions and went into greater detail about the British incidents involving Ashtar and the Galactic Command and Theosophist and UFO researcher Rex Dutta. The only known video of Rex Dutta who was a “fish doctor” can be found here and it is very entertaining. Rex also wrote three books on the UFO subject with Theosophical and Contactee overtones.

On September 29, 2020, Fahrusha was happy to welcome David Perkins back to “Shattered Reality Podcast” for his second visit this year. David is a talented researcher of cattle mutilations, UFOs and now drones in the southwest of the US. He is a 1968 graduate of Yale University majoring in American Studies and Political Science. This episode is in the form of a bulletin because this situation is current and ongoing and deserving of attention.

They discussed the interrelationship of cattle mutilations, fracking, UFOs, black helicopters and currently drones. There is a case to be made that all these things are very much linked. The lackadaisical attitude adopted by government officials is truly astounding in light of the fact that these drones are often intruding on sensitive airspace, especially nuclear reactors and nuclear missile sites.

Perkins, an astute observer, has studied anomalous phenomena in the Southwest since 1975 and is extremely well versed and expert on these subjects.

On July 28, 2020 Fahrusha welcomed Sean McNamara to “Shattered Reality Podcast.” Sean is a meditation teacher, a remote viewer and an author of several books. Fahrusha and Sean discussed his autobiographical book Renegade Mystic: The Pursuit of Spiritual Freedom Through Consciousness Exploration.

Sean grew up in a family that lived in different parts of the world which was exciting, culturally expanding but sometimes led to a feeling of displacement. Because of some medical emergencies, he feared death. Once stateside, as a young adult he sought community and spiritual enlightenment, but learned that gurus can often have clay feet.

“For most of my life I’ve been seeking, spiritually,” said Sean. So with those words “Shattered Reality Podcast” listeners know they will have something very much in common with Sean McNamara.

Michael Redmond was a fascinating guest on the Listeners’ Corner portion of the show with his account of a double sighting of a UFO in NJ. It was a double sighting in two ways. He saw it with his wife and they saw it twice on the same evening. Michael is a distinguished journalist and runs the Facebook page Fringe Quest which is a roundup of paranormal news.

To end the show, Fahrusha told of an unusual case of telekinesis in her sleeping quarters. Perhaps it was her reading material or perhaps it was the late Alan Colmes.

The lamp lifted up and fell in a most unusual manner whilst Fahrusha slept.

On June 2, 2020 Fahrusha was very pleased to host Lisette Coly, head of the Parapsychology Foundation and granddaughter of famed Irish medium Eileen Garrett, on “Shattered Reality Podcast”. We spoke about what it was like to grow up with one of the Twentieth Century’s most famous mediums as her grandmother. Lisette told us some fascinating family stories exhibiting Eileen Garrett’s psychic prowess.

Lisette’s mother, Eileen Coly (1916-2013), kept the family legacy going for many years through running the Parapsychology Foundation from 1970 until 2003. Born and educated in England, she was very dedicated to the systematic and scientific study of the paranormal. Lisette has worked at the Foundation since 1969 and has worn many hats, including initially receptionist in her college years, and then becoming Executive Director and finally President after her mother’s retirement. While working at the Foundation both mother and daughter referred to Eileen Garrett simply as “Garrett” to differentiate the personage from the familial connection.

Eileen Jeanette Vancho Lyttle Garrett (1893 – 1970) was an Irish medium and parapsychologist born in County Meath. Most unfortunately her parents committed suicide. This may have been pivotal in provoking her psychic abilities. She spent some years in England honing her gifts before moving to the US with her daughter Eileen Coly. She was a very popular and accomplished medium and the founder of the Parapsychology Foundation in 1951. She wrote seven books on psychic subject matter.

#102 UFO Experience as a Parapsychological Event

On March 3, 2020 Fahrusha welcomed two guests to “Shattered Reality Podcast”. The first was a lovely woman, “Jennifer”, a listener who is personally known to Fahrusha. She related an amazing synchronicity involving a new baby, a generous half sister, and the half sister’s recently deceased mother. At the 1:47 point in the recording you will hear what sounds like a male voice breaking into the recording saying “eemah-ho”. We here at “Shattered Reality Podcast” have no idea of the source of this voice. “Jennifer’s” uncle had passed the night before, but she says it was not his voice. This remains a mystery.

After that otherworldly start, our second very impressive guest, was Dr. Eric Ouellet, military scientist and author of Illuminations: The UFO Experience as a Parapsychological Event, published by Anomalist Books. He has a Ph.D. in Sociology from York University, Toronto. Dr. Ouellet is an Associate Professor in the Department of Defence Studies with the Royal Military College of Canada, physically located at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto. He began the interview by explaining the reasons for the military’s interest in the UFO topic.

Eric’s personal hypothesis about UFOs stems from the sociological model of German physicist and parapsychologist, Walter von Lucadou, Ph.D. concerning poltergeist phenomena and we discussed poltergeist cases for a brief interval before applying that hypothesis to UFOs. Fahrusha mentioned that she did not think all UFO cases must of necessity stem from the same source. Perhaps a few might be extraterrestrial while others might be a co-creation of the human psyche with higher forces. Eric Ouellet did not see the need for other “higher” forces to be employed, that the human mind is capable of creating these visible artifacts which can be seen by numbers of individuals.

He went on to explain how the Rendlesham Forest incident in Great Britain over the Christmas Holiday of 1980 could be explained through the von Lucadou sociological model used for poltergeists. Fahrusha asked Eric a few enlightening questions which were sent in by Maryam, a mutual acquaintance and “Shattered Reality Podcast” listener. Dr. Ouellet is currently involved in a collaborative work about Marian apparitions. #101 Asian Shamanism

On February 11, 2020, Kevin B. Turner of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies joined Fahrusha to speak about Asian shamanism. Though born in Arizona, USA, Kevin has lived in Asia for over 20 years and currently has a shamanic healing practice in Bali, Indonesia and Kyoto, Japan. He has written the informative book Sky Shamans of Mongolia: Meetings with Remarkable Healers.

The shamans in present-day Mongolia are plentiful and most fall within three general traditions: the Khalkhs (the ethnic majority in Mongolia whose shamans have been somewhat influenced by Buddhism), the Buryat (inside northern Mongolia and across the Russian Federation border in the Republic of Buryatia and influenced by Siberian shamanism) and the Darkhad (from the remote region of Khuvsgul and perhaps the most original form of Mongolian shamanism). Kevin visited members of all of these groups. He received a remarkable healing and was tested as a shaman, as a result of which he participated in amazing and arcane rituals.

Shamanism is widely practiced around the world but is most prevalent in places wherein the inhabitants are animists. Animism is the belief that natural objects, natural phenomena, and the universe itself possess souls and the belief that natural objects have souls that may exist apart from their material bodies. Shamanism is not a religion but a practice of Magick.

Fahrusha is facilitating a dreamwork course lead by Dale E. Graff, a physicist and a former Director of the D.I.A.’s Project STARGATE (remote viewing) at Fallbrook Farms in Geneseo, NY scheduled for July 16-19, 2020.

On February 4, 2020 Fahrusha welcomed researcher David Perkins to “Shattered Reality Podcast” to speak about his firsthand experiences with cattle mutilations and related phenomena. Firsthand experiences are most frequently the best accounts to pay attention to when investigating anomalous phenomena and Perkins has been on the scene for over forty years.

Perkins has been a member of an intentional community called Libre in Colorado since the late 60s. He built two houses on the mountain there. There were then and are still today cattle mutilations happening in that area. Every time he thought he had the solution to the phenomena, it would shift and change as if to taunt him or prove him wrong. He is still investigating today. We spoke of the roles of black helicopters, UFOs and drones in conjunction with cattle mutilations.

Today David Perkins is highly persuaded by the work of British ecologist James Lovelock regarding the Gaia Hypothesis which says that Our Mother Earth is conscious and a self-regulating system. David thinks that many unexplained phenomena could be viewed as unrecognized forces of Nature. Fahrusha added in that the Earth and the Sun might likely be communicating with each other and referred to a blog post she wrote a few years ago.

On January 21, 2020 Fahrusha welcomed award winning photographer Shannon Taggart to “Shattered Reality Podcast” to discuss her amazing book, SÉANCE. We discussed her photographs and how she came to document séances and the Spiritualist religion.

The book is broken into three parts: 1) Foreward by Dan Ackroyd, Introductions by Andreas Fischer, Tony Oursler and Shannon Taggart herself; 2) 150 different images taken over 20 years; 3) an image index written by Shannon which includes stories about each image in the book.

Fahrusha spoke about her graduate school experience with a very frightening spirit photograph taken accidentally by her thesis advisor Ed Pramuk, a wonderful artist.

Spiritualism is the first religion to use photography rather than painting for its iconography. Shannon brings together visual semiotics, surrealism, feminism, religion, spirituality and how media shapes reality. We at “Shattered Reality Podcast” spoke about how media shapes the perception of history in our interview with Diana Walsh Pasulka last year.

Shannon praised the work of George P. Hansen and his work on the Trickster. We discussed fraud in séances, and physical mediumship versus mental mediumship. Infrared photography is used by Taggart in some of her work.

#97 Entities or Schizophrenia?

On December 3, 2019 Fahrusha was pleased to welcome Jerry Marzinsky to “Shattered Reality Podcast”. Jerry has been a licensed psychotherapist with over 35 years of experience working with schizophrenic and other psychiatric patients in state hospitals, state prisons, and hospital emergency rooms. His formal academic training comprises a B.A. in Psychology from Temple University, a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Georgia, and two years of study in a Ph.D. Psychology program.

We discussed the history of the treatment of patients classified as mentally ill and specifically those currently classified as paranoid schizophrenics. It seems they have mostly not been cured by psychiatry and they have been given the most incredibly barbaric treatments over the course of time. Currently they are treated with electro-shock therapy and anti-psychotic drugs. The electro-shock therapy burns out brain cells and can cause bone breakage, especially in older patients. Anti-psychotic drugs can be very useful to stop a violent outburst and may reverse schizophrenia if used at the earliest sign of the condition, but it is very dulling and has many side effects with continuing usage. Psychiatry claims that paranoid schizophrenia is caused by a chemical imbalance, yet Jerry says that in all his years of work with these patients, none of them were ever tested for this imbalance.

After years of asking these patients why they would go off their medication, he discovered that the voices that the patients heard had much in common with each other. Then he began speaking not only with the patients but with the voices, which he believes are separate entities. He is joined in this belief by Emmanuel Swedenborg. Robert Monroe of the Monroe Institute spoke often about discarnate entities that live off the emotions of others. Don Miguel Ruiz, the world renowned Mexican shaman also speaks of this possession by entities. Jerry Marzinsky’s research partner is Sherry Swiney.
